PhD DEFENCE KEVIN SZILLAT!

On the 3rd of February 2021 Kevin Szillat successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled "Virus characterisation in an era of outbreaks" The defence was a closed session with a 30 min presentation followed by 45 min discussion. During the presentation Kevin described how the biology of a virus can be studied by using genetically modified cell culture models and full-genome sequencing analysis. The subsequent discussion covered the different areas that Kevin had worked on during the 3 years of his PhD study, from experimental setups to the relevance of the laboratory findings in light of the situation in the field.
