Preparedness needs research: How fundamental science and international collaboration accelerated the response to COVID-19

The ESRs of HONOURs present a beautiful overview on the exceptional response to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Sustained by unique information sharing efforts, the diagnostics, contact tracing procedures, vaccine development, and antiviral therapies are at an all-time high. The young researchers conclude there is a need to build on this success, with further promoting of fundamental research capacity and networks of collaboration.
